North Cascades has an abundance of waterfalls
After leaving Snoqualmie, we went north to Concrete.  With the KOA as our base camp, we went to Whidbey Island, to the west and then North Cascades National Park to the east.  Ripley was able to go with us both places.  This was convenient since they were late days.As little as Whidbey Island is, Guy and I both have a friend on the island.  Guy's friend worked with him in the police department.  Mark has been living there for about a year.  My friend Sharon, has been on the island for almost 20 years.  Of course they live on opposite ends of Whidbey.  Sharon lives in Langley, the "tree hugging artsy end" and Mark lives at the naval government end.  We started at the north end, crossing over by way of Desperation Pass.  We explored the North End with Mark and Amber (thank you for showing us around) then down to Langley.  We left Sharon's and headed north.  Even though it doesn't get dark till late (9:30 or so) it was very dark when we got back.
The next morning off to the Cascades.  This is a fabulously beautiful area.  We stopped for breakfast and Tootsie's famous cinnamon roll.  My mom's nickname is Tootsie and she makes great cinnamon rolls so we had to stop and compare.  My mom's won.  Anyhow, there was only 4 left when we got there, a couple came in and got one, so Guy jumped up to make sure we got ours. We spent the rest of the day visiting the 3 lakes and dams.
Gig Harbor presented the first major crisis. We made a wrong turn and ended up at a dead end on a hill.  We ended up unhitching the trailer and rehooking it.  It was unstable and shifted some in the process.  We thought it was going to slide into the cars by it and down the hill.  We were praying hard. Over an hour later, we headed up the hill and down the road.  Our stay got better after that.
We headed off to the Washington coast, to Long Beach. Beaches, boardwalk, shops, it seemed like Ocean City. Well, not really, there were dunes, driving on the beach, dogs on the beach...
Is that the town or what the sign is made of ?
