4 plus Rip in San Diego part one

We left Santa Barbara for San Diego, passing through LA. We got lucky, the traffic wasn't near as bad as we expected. We arrived in San Diego about the time we expected. We setup the trailer up, went to the beach for the sunset and then to the airport to pickup Kayla and Kathryn. It sounds like it would be crowded but actually it worked out well. Ripley was super glad to see them. They spent 5 days with us over Labor Day weekend, so the campground got crazy busy on Friday. We kept busy during our stay. We went to the beach, the zoo, saw Coronado with a friend of mine (thanks Traycie, it was good to see you). Our neighbor was super friendly and let us use his tent while we were on the campground beach and offer us his paddleboard (I should have taken him up on that, but I know how bad I would be at it). San Diego has a great deal to offer whether you live there or are visiting.
just made it to the beach for sunset

Pacific Beach at sunset

we went to La Jolla beach, it was a good choice
Ripley stuck close to Kayla for a while

like Ripley, Kayla has her own classic pose
between the sea lions and the waves and the rocks, La Jolla was a great place

this pair was having it out in the cove

opposite the sea lions were the rocks
one of the hotspots on PB
More splashing on the rocks

I tried to get a picture with Kayla and the big waves but they never came together
Ripley thinks he is missing something

the next day we went to the zoo to see the flamingos

always like to see the elephant
we all thought our drink was the best (mine was)

no sand to stake the umbrella in, but it still was good to have

the ever-changing landscape of the ocean
the mommy and baby meerkats

the cheetahs at the zoo are often paired with dogs

I am not sure who the bigger kid is, Guy got one from the minuteman missile National Historic site

we took this at the end of the day, in the morning there was a line

this old fire truck was restored by are neighbor at Mission Bay, everyone was taking a
picture of it , so I thought I should take one

on Saturday and Sunday everyone was at the beach

the zoo had a bus tour and the kangaroo shuttle bus

and a sky ride too
the giraffes were tall and stately
